Seahorses are small marine fishes that belong to the genus Hippocampus. Compared to other fishes, seahorses have an unusual, flexible, well-defined neck. Seahorses are mainly found in shallow waters and live in sheltered areas such as seagrass beds, estuaries, coral reefs, or mangroves.
The process of seahorse reproduction is very interesting. Studies have shown that males and females court for several days. During that period of time they perform dancing rituals, swimming side by side at the same pace. They want to be able to mirror the movement of the other in sync.
But do yo you know that a male seahorses possess the remarkable ability to give birth to thousands of babies at once, while only five in thousand survive in adulthood.
